Driver Going Wrong Way on Highway 57 causes Accident

A driver going the wrong way on Highway 57 caused a crash with another vehicle just after midnight on Friday, November 6th. Alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the accident and police are requesting charges against the drunk driver, who was critically injured in the accident.

The police reports indicate that the accident happened as they were in the process of responding to a call that the man was driving the wrong way on the highway. Shortly after receiving the first call, they received another report that the same car had caused an accident. The driver struck the vehicle of a 30-year-old man causing the victim’s automobile to flip over. The victim was not injured in the wreck and did not go to the hospital. The driver who caused the accident was found in his vehicle and severely injured in the collision. He was transported to a hospital and is currently being treated.

The accident shut down southbound lanes on Highway 57 for three hours while crews worked to clean up the debris.
