A total of 202,000 Evenflo baby car seats are being recalled due to flawed buckles that may endanger its occupants in emergency situations, an article on The New York Times said October 24.
The Ohio-based company eventually complied with the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) to recall their “Embrace 35” back-facing baby car seats due to buckles that may trap its intended user. The defective buckles were also used by competing company Graco, also produced by AmSafe. Evenflo stated that none of the 10 complaints they received in nearly three years involved injuries or an emergency situation, but the company will replace the faulty buckles of the affected car seats as a precautionary measure.
