Food manufacturer, Kraft recently issued recall for at least 96,000 pounds of hot dog products after being notified of misinformation on the labeling. Some of the distributed hot dogs contained cheese without a label indicating the dairy allergen.
The recall affects several hot dog products sold across the United States. Consumers who have a lactose allergy could become ill after ingesting the affected food.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), a consumer first brought the mistake to the manufacturer’s attention. Reports of illnesses related to the recalled hot dogs are unknown to Kraft and the FSIS at the moment.
When food products aren’t labeled appropriately, people with severe allergies could potentially suffer from fatal injuries.
