One person was killed and four others were hurt after a tree fell in a famous Jewish summer camp in the San Francisco Bay Area on the morning of July 3.
The accident happened inside Camp Tawonga, which is near Yosemite National Park, when a tree fell while campers were having breakfast. A staff member, identified as Annais Rittenberg, was reportedly killed in the accident and four others were transported to the hospital for injuries. No campers were hurt in the incident.
The tree that fell was supposed to be inspected by Pacific Gas & Electric Co., as the company has electric poles and lines near the tree. According to the Tuolumne County sheriff’s department, the company had completed all necessary inspections. A spokeswoman for Pacific Gas and Electric Co. did say they will cooperate with investigators.
