At least 242,000 hybrid cars made between March and October 2009 will be recalled by Toyota due to a brake system problem. Toyota announced this recall in early June.
Toyota stated that they will recall Prius and Lexus HS 250h hybrid cars after drivers complained of needing to step more heavily than usual on the brake pedal. No accidents were reported from the brake flaw that, according to a spokeswoman, was due to nitrogen gas leaking into the brake fluid, reducing its effectiveness. In recent years, Toyota has been struggling to bring back its reputation of safety and reliability after millions of their vehicles were affected by recalls.
Brake defects, such as the one found in the Toyota vehicles, or any other car defects may cause a serious accident to occur, injuring innocent people.
