As many mourn the death of Ray Easterling after he was found in his home last week, his death may also have a large impact on the the concussion lawsuit he was involved in against the National Football Leauge.
Easterling, a former Atlanta Falcons player, was the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit against the NFL that stated that their negligence in treating concussions in their players, later caused them to have long term brain damage.
A Philadelphia attorney has stated that because of Easterling’s death (which police believe was a suicide) the lawsuit may change from a personal injury lawsuit to a wrongful death lawsuit. Sources close to him stated that the past six months were very tough for the 62-year-old former football player because he was mentally struggling. As of now, there have been 61 concussion-related lawsuits filed against the NFL.
