Collinsville police officer involved in four-vehicle crash

Posted under Uncategorized

A Collinsville police officer was injured in a four-vehicle crash that took place on Wednesday evening.

According to Illinois State Police, Officer Michael G. Brown was traveling in his squad car when he was on his way to respond to a call around 6 pm. Brown turned on his emergency lights and then entered the intersection at Keebler Avenue and Belt Line Road. 51-year-old Bruce A. Steele was turning right onto Keebler Avenue as the officer was driving through the intersection, stiking Brown's squard car.

This initial collision caused two other vehicles that were stopped on Keebler Avenue to be hit as well, resulting in a four-vehicle crash. Police who responded to the incident stated that everyone involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts, and only minor injuries were sustained by Brown. The officer was treated at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
