Product Liability Lawsuit Filed Over AMS Vaginal Sling

Posted under Uncategorized

A woman in Texas has filed a product liability lawsuit
against American Medical Systems over problems with a vaginal mesh sling
manufactured by the company.

According to Los Angeles Superior Court documents, Laura
Jones claims AMS’ vaginal mesh sling caused her to suffer a number of serious
injuries and complications after pelvic organ prolapse surgery. The lawsuit
says Jones had an AMS vaginal sling implanted in June 2009 to support her
pelvic organs and restore normal vaginal structure. Following the surgery,
Jones experienced severe pain, urinary problems, and had to undergo numerous
additional surgeries to have the AMS surgical mesh removed.

According to the product liability lawsuit, Jones’
transvaginal sling eroded, shrunk, and extruded into her vagina. The lawsuit claims
that AMS failed to warn patients about the risk of vaginal mesh side effects.
Jones accuses the manufacturer of negligence, breach of implied and express
warranty, fraud, and misrepresentation.
