A 5-year old and her grandmother were injured in a two-vehicle car accident in Pleasant Prarie last week. Police believe that driver inattention may be to blame in the accident.
The accident occurred when the girl's grandmother attempted to make a U-turn at the intersection of 85th Street and Green Bay Road in Pleasant Prarie. Then, a 43-year old driver in a van struck the grandmother's vehicle as she made the turn. The driver of the van told police that they did not see the vehicle slow or stop.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene of the accident, paramedics found the 5-year old girl strapped into her children's booster seat and unconscious. Both the girl and her grandmother were taken to a nearby hospital, but the girl was later transferred to the Children's Hospital in Wauwatosa with serious head injuries.
