A Wisconsin jury awarded an injured man, represented by Daniel Rottier, $10 million, $5 million of which was for pain and suffering.
The man was injured in February of 2006 when the hospital staff injected a drug into his spine that was not meant to be injected into spines. The resulting injuries included 3 fractured vertebrae and a broken hip. The injuries required more surgery.
In addition to $5 million for pain and suffering, the jury awarded $500,000 for past medical and health expenses and $4.5 million for future health expenses. The injury occurred just months before the legislature passed a law placing a cap on how much juries could award for pain and suffering.
