Michael Cabay had a successful gastric bypass surgery and was happy to have gotten through the procedure without complications. Several days later, Michael began experiencing severe pains in his abdominal region.
Michael’s doctor ordered a CT scan to be done to determine the cause of the pain. A partial bowel obstruction was shown on the CT scan, however, a report was not completed the same day. One day after Michael’s condition was discovered, the doctor completed the report, but Michael had developed an anastomotic leak due to the obstruction. This leak caused his eventual death. Recently, a settlement has been reached in the case and Michael’s children will now be taken care of since their father will no longer be able to provide for them due to a doctor’s negligence.
