A woman was seriously injured Thursday night in a Madison car accident on Interstate 94.

According to officials with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, the 30 year-old woman was transported to University of Wisconsin Hospital by Med Flight helicopter following the crash.

The accident occurred when the woman was driving her 2006 Toyota Corolla in the left lane of westbound I-94 shortly before 11:00 p.m. Thursday. An SUV passed the corolla and then moved over into the left lane, striking the Toyota in the front fender, causing the vehicle to spin out of control, enter the median, and roll multiple times before coming to rest on the eastbound shoulder.

The SUV failed to stop after the crash. Police believe the vehicle is a Ford Explorer or Toyota 4Runner, gray in color, with possible damage from the crash on the driver's side toward the rear.
