Company recalling cucumber products for salmonella risk

Posted under Food Recall

San Diego-based firm Andrew and Williamson Fresh Produce is recalling certain cucumber products distributed nationwide that may be contaminated by salmonella bacteria, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported on September 4.

The voluntary recall was issued after the Centers for Disease Control was notified of 285 people in 27 different states being infected by salmonella bacteria from possibly consuming Andrew and Williamson’s “Limited Edition” cucumber products. Older adults, young children and those with poor immune systems are at a higher risk of serious and potentially fatal infections from eating foods contaminated with salmonella. People who might have bought the recalled cucumbers that were produced in Baja, California are advised to either return the product for a refund or discard it immediately.
