A pedestrian was seriously hurt after he was struck by a vehicle in the downtown area of Appleton, postcrescent.com reported on August 29.

Reports said a 56-year-old man, whose name was not released, was crossing South Memorial Drive when a southbound SUV struck him. The man was brought to the hospital to treat serious injuries. The 25-year-old SUV driver, whose name was also not released, stopped and cooperated with police. Authorities temporarily shut down the road to collect evidence.
