California catering firm recalls pre-packed foods possibly contaminated with E. coli

Posted under Product Liability

California-based firm Glass Onion Catering is recalling at least 181,620 lbs of packed salads and sandwiches due to possible harmful contaminants, according to a press released published by the USDA on Sunday, November 10. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), at least 16 ready-to-eat food products made from September 23 to November 6 might have been contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

Incidents of people becoming ill after eating the recalled foods from several states have been reported. FSIS said investigations are still ongoing with the help of other health authorities to figure out the origin of the contaminants.

People who have eaten food contaminated with E. coli O157:H7 may experience dehydration, diarrhea, and kidney failure.

Consumers who have bought the affected food products were advised to immediately dispose of it.
