70 mph speed limit proposed in Wisconsin

Posted under Car Accidents

A Republican representative proposed to increase the speed limit in Wisconsin on Tuesday, August 21. Manitowoc Rep. Paul Tittl unveiled his proposal at a news conference.

Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said he is expecting the proposal to be considered by lawmakers when the session starts this September. Some proponents of the change argued that it will make traveling easier as you don’t have to change speeds as much.

On the other hand, Major Sandra Huxtable of the Wisconsin State Patrol said increasing the speed limit also increases the chance that motorists will get involved in serious road accidents that may lead to serious injuries or even death.

Speeding drivers are one of the major causes of many serious road accidents.
