Interstate crash injures 2

Two people were injured after their vehicle crashed near Poynette on the night of March 31.

Reports from Wisconsin State Patrol showed that emergency crews responded to an accident that happened on the eastbound lanes of  Interstate 39/90/94 around 7 p.m. The vehicle’s driver, 20-year-old Doris J. Stewart of Tomah, and its passenger, Alex H. Kivimaki, both sustained injuries as a result of the accident. Stewart sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to the University Of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, while Kivimaki was brought to the same hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Both  were reportedly in stable condition by the following day.

Poynette Fire and EMS, UW Medflight, and the Columbia County Highway assisted Wisconsin State Patrol in addressing the accident.
