A New Jersey man has been arrested after it was found that he knowingly contaminated several buildings with asbestos during his time as a contractor hired to remove this dangerous substance.
For approximately one year, the man was hired to remove or seal asbestos fibers in 36 different buildings, including private residences and schools. Unfortunately, the man was not trained in the proper removal and containment of asbestos, but he still took the jobs so that he could financially benefit from his situation.
As a result of his inexperience, the man contaminated at least 10 of the 36 locations. One of those buildings was a daycare center in which asbestos fibers were discovered in the boiler room. Investigators found asbestos contamination in nine other locations, all private residences.
