The luxury automaker, BMW, has released information regarding an international recall for several of their models. In the United States, the recall totals 367,000 vehicles.
The 5 Series sports wagons and sedans and the 6 Series convertibles and coupes are all included in the recall. The manufacturing dates of the affected vehicles range from 2004 to 2010. Located in the trunks of these vehicles are batteries that could possibly have been wired incorrectly. In some cases, this mistake can lead to overheating of the battery, as well as fires.
BMW has plans to distribute letters to each of the owners of the defective vehicles, informing them of the details and providing information about repairs. All of the repairs will be made free of charge, and will not take longer than 30 minutes.
