Madison man arrested on sexual assault charges

An 18-year-old Madison man has been charged with four felonies resulting from the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.
Three of the four charges dealt directly with first-degree child sexual assault. Over Thanksgiving weekend, the 13-year-old was at a motel with her family when she was assaulted by the 18-year-old in the motel’s hot tub. The suspect is claiming that he was aware of her age and that their contact was consensual.
The man was taken to jail and his bail was set at $8,000. If convicted, the maximum jail sentence for the charges is 160 years.
