Three People Injured in Madison Car Accident

Three people were injured in a Madison car accident Sunday
evening.

According to officials with the Dane County Sheriff’s
Office, the auto accident occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. on State Highway
78, approximately 0.1 miles south of Sharp Road. Deputies say a 2003 red Honda
Civic was traveling northbound on highway 78 when the vehicle crossed the centerline
and collided head-on with a 1999 Black Mercedes traveling southbound on the
highway.

According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office accident
report, the driver of the Honda Civic was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of
the accident and was ejected from the vehicle in the crash, sustaining serious
injuries. The driver and passenger in the Mercedes were wearing seatbelts and
sustained serious injuries, deputies said. All three victims were transported
by ground ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. No information on the
nature of their injuries was available.

The accident remains under investigation by the Dane County
Sheriff’s Office.
