Two people were injured in a Madison car accident Monday.
According to officials with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office,
deputies responded to a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of U.S.
highways 12 & 18, approximately one mile west of State Highway 73, shortly
after 9:00 p.m.
According to the accident report, a 2001 Chevrolet Impala
traveling eastbound on Highway 12 and a 1997 traveling westbound collided
head-on when one of the vehicles crossed the centerline. Police say both
drivers were pinned in their vehicles and had to be extricated by firefighters.
The driver of the Chevrolet is a 34 year-old male from
Wisconsin Dells. The Mercury was operated by a 17 year-old female from Blue
Mounds. Both drivers were transported by ground ambulance to University of
Wisconsin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the
Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
