Posted under Uncategorized

Between 2004 and 2008, there were 187,796 fatal car accidents in the United States.  94 percent of these involved a single fatality.

The U.S. Department of Transportation recently released a report on fatal car accidents in the country occurring between 2004 and 2008.  According to statistics, 58 percent of fatal car accidents occurring in the four year period were single-vehicle accidents.  35 percent of fatal car accidents were two-vehicle accidents and only 6 percent were multi-vehicle accidents.

In addition, contrary to popular belief, more than 80 percent of fatal accidents occurred on dry roads and 66 percent of single-vehicle accidents were on straight roads.  Speeding, traffic, traffic controls, routes, road conditions and weather were the most common causes of fatal accidents.  Distracted driving and drunk driving were also cited as causes.
