Today, 2 million Graco-brand strollers were recalled after reports of four children being killed after getting their heads caught in a part of the product. The deaths occurred between 2003 and 2005, but consumers who still have the defective stroller are instructed to stop using it immediately.
There have also been five reports of children becoming trapped in the same place and suffering from cuts, bruises and difficulty breathing. Most incidents occurred when an infant was younger than 12 months old and is not harnessed in with the seatbelt. The stroller was designed to allow an infant's head and neck to pass through the front opening above the seat bottom, however these tragic incidents occurred because the child's head can become caught underneath the tray above.
The defective strollers are the Graco Quattro Tour strollers and travel systems produced before November 2006 and the MetroLite strollers and travel systems produced before July 2007. The model number can be found underneath the stroller or above the rear wheels.
