DWI Felonies Increasing in Erie County

Posted under Uncategorized

The number of DWI felonies is increasing in Erie County, New York.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark says the increase in felonies is due more to more people with a prior conviction drinking and driving rather than an increase in the total number of people drinking and driving.

In addition, individuals from the DA’s office and local law enforcement are following through on DWI cases more often. They are performing home checks and making sure people pay their fines in an effort to curb the behavior.

Erie County officials are expecting an all-time high of DWI accidents by the end of 2008.
