Judge reduces award amount in defective seatbelt case

Posted under Uncategorized

An East Texas jury awarded the Frazier family $24 million after the death of their daughter in a car accident. The claim was filed against the car’s seatbelt manufacturer. The judge in the trial recently reduced the damages awareded to the Frazier family by almost 40 percent.

The Frazier’s youngest daughter, Lauren, was killed due to defective seatbelts when the family’s Tahoe was hit on their way home from getting ice cream. Lauren was thrown from the car when the collision caused the Tahoe to roll. Her injuries caused her death.

Although the driver of the other car was repsonsible for the car accident, the defective seatbelt is what caused Lauren’s actual death.
